最近一直聽 Oscar Peterson 與 Ray Brown 三重奏的錄音。昨天接老婆及小犬回娘家坐月子的路上，小犬在車上本來有點哭鬧，在聽到 Fresh Sound 的 Ray Brown：The Man Complete Recordings 1946-1959 (FSR-CD 560) 的第一張 CD 的第2軌 Smokey Hollow Jump 這曲後，突然安靜下來不再吵鬧，當下覺得難到小犬也喜歡聽....，不過這當然是穿鑿附會下的巧合！
記得多年前在唱片行看到這套 Oscar Peterson - The London House Sessions (1961) [Box Set 5 CD]：
The London House was a jazz club and restaurant in Chicago located at the corner of Wacker Drive and Michigan Avenue, in the London Guarantee and Accident Company building, 360 N Michigan. It was one of the foremost jazz clubs in the country, once home to such luminaries as Oscar Peterson, Ramsey Lewis, Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, Marian McPartland, Cannonball Adderley, Erroll Garner, Ahmad Jamal, Nancy Wilson, Barbara Carroll, Bobby Short and many others.
The club closed in the early 1970s. It later became a Burger King restaurant. It is now a Corner Bakery restaurant location.

這套錄音發行過的單張唱片中(下文會提到)，其中 “The Trio”及”The Sound of the Trio”兩張 CD，不管是日本版或者是美國版的，都是 Oscar Peterson 最佳的錄音效果的前幾名，完全不輸發燒友比較熟悉的 We Get Requests 這張唱片(這張有重刻過 N 個版本)，這兩張錄音的錄音師是天王級的 Val Valentin，但我不知道整套錄音是不是都由都由他操刀，不過“The Trio”及”The Sound of the Trio”這兩張，確實都屬頂級爵士樂發燒錄音。
單就發燒角度談這套唱片，實在有點不太深入，不過這個鋼琴三重奏的合作默契，及演奏之流暢，那需要我多費唇舌啊！有最好的錄音、最好的鋼琴三重奏，難過的是買不到這套了！重發應該也不可能了！不過買不到這套，還是有其中部分的錄音，可以在市面上買到，如：

收錄曲目與下面提到的 ESSENTIAL JAZZ CLASSICS 版本一樣，只是收錄順序不同，不過此版本封底註明第 1~6 軌的收錄時間為 1962.9.27：
不過第7~13軌亦註明錄音時間為 1962 年，與上面這套的錄音時間寫的又不一樣！經找資料應該為日本版的誤值！

The two LPs contained here in their entirety, Put on a Happy Face (Verve V6-8660, tracks 1-7) and Something Warm (Verve V6-8681, tracks 8-13), were culled from those dates. Both albums feature Peterson with Ray Brown on bass, and Ed Thigpen on drums.

Polygram 時代的 Verve 24bit 硬紙盒版，收錄時間為 1961.7.28~29，收錄 7 軌；美國版的 VME 系列我沒有買，不過收錄有12軌。
在民國85年6月出版的第42期的唱片＆音響購買指南，專刊介紹爵士樂，當初也是 Verve 那 50張硬紙盒日本版剛上市時，所以文中相當多推薦此套唱片中的單張 CD，其中的第 78 頁，音響論壇的劉漢盛主編就對 The Trio 這張評為”當舖爵士的祖父”。
另外這張發燒盤，也是這套的變形版之一：
