VDJ-1551 Sonny Rollins：Way Out West Plus這張是我最喜歡的 Sonny Rollins 的專輯，因為樂手除了 Sonny Rollins 外，還有 Ray Brown、Shelly Manne，Contemporary Recods 發行，錄音是一等一的發燒，因為錄音師是 Roy DuNann。
這張是上個月日本行，在 disk union 所敗入，我這幾次去日本，已習慣找一些老盤，因為自己有興趣的樂手專輯，應該買得差不多了，總要找些新目標，來提升自己逛 disk union 尋寶的興致，雖然我手上已經有 Analogue Productions 的 Doug Sax 重刻 24K金版本，應該也是史上最強的 CD 版本了，不過看到不一樣的版本，尤其是這樣的老盤，心中還是會小小糾結一下，因為憑著前幾次買的這些老盤，我覺得都有不錯的感覺。
感覺這樣的老盤，相當均衡，不會那個部分特別突出，這當然跟錄音師 Roy DuNann 的錄音功力無關，因為 Roy DuNann 的錄音作品本來就有這份特點，我是指既使如 Rudy Van Gelder 的這一類的老盤錄音，在這樣的老盤聽起來，也會比較有平衡的聽感，聽起來也比較順，或許就是有人說的，聽起來比較平淡。
