今年3月左右看到日本 HMV 網站有這張 CD 版本的發行

Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this classic Jazz album. Contains the complete original album Urbane Jazz as well as all of the other tunes taped during those sessions. While the main focus here is on the quintet fronted by Eldridge and Carter, four tracks present Eldridge playing amazing duets with drummer Alvin Stoller (the trumpeter also plays piano on 'Wailing'). The only two tracks featuring Eldridge from the soundtrack of the French movie Les Tricheurs have been added as a bonus (on one track Roy shares the front line with Stan Getz in a sextet).

這張是手上已有 Verve 的 New Jazz Sounds : The Urbane Sessions 這張雙 CD 的美版、德版及俄羅斯盜版的其中一張，不過擁有這種版本的封面，如 Philly 兄言：爽度較高，另外這張號稱 Digitally remastered，音效應該會更好點。
本來差一點跟日本 HMV 下訂這張，但等到 CD Connection 有在賣這張片子，當然就馬上下訂，經過一段時間的等待，端午節前一天收到，當然要拿出來跟這張 Verve 雙 CD 的絕版片比較一下：

這張的第 2 張片子 The Small Group Sessions 有 16 軌：
第 1 ~ 10 軌主要是選自 The Urbane Jazz 這張 LP ( Verve MGV 8202 ) LP 的第1~10軌，是 1955.3.21 及 1955.3.23 的錄音。
第 11 軌是選自 78 轉 Clef 89143。
第 12~13 軌則稱未發行過。
第 14~15、16軌分別選自 New Jazz Sounds Norgran MGN1044、70轉 Mercury89044。
Poll Winners Records 發行的 Urbane Jazz 這張共有17軌：
第 1 ~ 13 軌曲目同上面這張 disc 2 的第 1 ~ 13 軌。
第 14 軌 Close Your Eyes，是第 6 軌的 alternative take，是 1955.3.23 的錄音。
第 15 軌 Ballad Medley，是第 4 軌的 alternative take，是 1955.3.23 的錄音。
第 16~17 軌算 bonus tracks，是 Roy Eldridge、Oscar Peterson、Ray Brown 及 Gus Jihnson，第 16 軌還加上 Stan Getz，是大腳們 1958.5 於法國巴黎錄音。經內頁說明為選自法國的電影原聲帶 Les Tricheurs 的其中 2 曲。
錄音如何？想不到 Poll Winners Records 的版本效果比上 Verve 版本好多了，Benny Carter 和 Roy Eldridge 的銅管更嘹亮圓潤許多，形體感也好上一些，唱片內頁中，Poll Winners Records 未交代是取材用何種原料或技術重刻？音效確實改善不少，一直感覺擁有原始母帶的大唱片公司相當不長進，這樣保存原汁原味的歷史傳承工作，竟要"外人"來代勞，不過 Poll Winners Records 發行過的片子，多為已發行過 CD 版本而且仍算常見的唱片，相當而言，吸引力弱上許多，不過既以標榜是 Downbeat 五星評價的唱片，範圍就狹窄多了，以這張這樣的重刻效果，以後可要多多注意這家唱片公司的東東了，但還是廢話一句，多刻一些沒有發行過 CD 的片子吧！
